Doctors....Doctors....Doctors!

Today has been an extremely busy day after a night with a bit of an interuption due to difficulty sleeping. At the moment, Taye is sound asleep after a full day of doctors.

The Schedule as it played out:

8 AM - PT evaluation
9:15 AM - CT Scan
9:40 Doctor's Rounds on PICU floor
10:20 Neurology Rounds
10:45 EEG Begins
12:00 EEG Ended
1:00 - OT evaluation
1:30 - First Opthamalogist Evaluation
3:15 Neorosurgeon Evaluation
4:30 Second Opthamologist Evaluation

Overall, Taye has done amazing. He made it through the CT scan this morning without anethesia, which was huge. The results indicated larger swelling than the last which has been explained to us as "to be expected". It did indicate more clearly that he did suffer a stroke (which has been the lack of bloodflow we have been talking about) and we have been exploring the effects throughout the rest of his "appointments" today.

We still feel encouraged by what all of the doctors have been saying. Even as new therapists and doctors enter the picture, the tone set still remains as rehabilitative. Our best conversations come from the neurosurgeon who is optimistic in his progression. He is the doctor who removed the hematoma so we feel he has had the birds eye view. It does appear that whenever we are finished with this hospital stint, we will go home before having the second surgery to replace the portion of his skull temporarily removed.

We still have a "road" ahead of us mostly being created by the numerous hands laid upon Taye today....but we are happy to be on that road.

It sounds like he keeps making progress and that the barrage of doctors/appointments today didn't phase him much. It's somewhat comforting to start to be getting some answers to the questions that have been floating out there for a few days. All-in-all, I'd say there has been a steady stream of good news so far today. I'm glad you're on the "road" too!

Wow! That is a lot of specialists! It has been in my prayers that Taye is in the best care possible, and it sounds like that is the case. One day at a time...Know that you are loved and supported by so many. Thank you for allowing us to follow his progress. ~Erica

We have been out of town for three days, near Lake Michigan, celebrating our 46th wedding anniversary, but all of you continued to be in our thoughts and prayers.
Upon arriving home, one of the first things we did was catch up on your blogs. (They are much appreciated.) Great news about Taye's progress. His spirit & youth, not to mention all the prayers, will continue to provide the basis for recovery and rehabilitation.

I'm a mom of a little boy adopted from Guatemala - he's 2 now. I stumbled across your blog a few days before Taye's fall and I am checking in on him everyday through your updates. It's been a scary few days for you guys but there are lots of us out here thinking good thoughts for your family. It's shocking how our children can be so fragile and yet reassuring that they are also tough and resilient. It's Spring - a time of growth and renewal - and in this season Taye will heal quietly and steadily with your loving hands guiding him. Love from TX.

I can only begin to imagine what it must be like for you to be going through all of this. All of you (and especially Taye) have been in our thoughts and our prayers these last few days. And it is really heartening to hear of Taye's progress. He sounds like an incredibly tough little guy. One thing I have learned being a parent is how amazingly resilient babies and little kids can be. And from your blog and what I've been hearing, it sounds like Taye is making remarkable progress. Stay strong!

You are so blessed to have such a terrific group of doctors at your disposal. They are all terrific, and have access to the best knowledge out there. Thank God for the new Beaumont Children's Hospital, it must have been hurried along knowing Taye would be needing them! You are in our prayers, and we are still thinking of all of you every day, several times!

I was so glad to hear that Taye had an official "smile" today. It sounds like your busy day of specialists are all part of the "road" to recovery. Now that many people will be travelling that "road" with you each step of the way. I missed not seeing Taye today, but all of you were constantly in my thoughts. Here's to another day of amazing strides down that "road'.

Love, Caroline

I can barely find the words to write to you and your family, but I just want to say that you are in my constant thoughts. No parent should ever have to face a situation like this, but I wholeheartedly believe that Taye is truly lucky to have parents and a family support system like yours. You are truly an inspiration to me and I hope, with all my heart, that one day you will be able to look back on all of this and barely remember it as your perfect little boy runs through the yard with his big brother.

Thank you for the update on Taye. We saw your dad tonight, too, Joanna, so he filled us in on how things are going as well.

I'm glad that he's doing so well with all of the testing. He has certainly been seen by a lot of doctors.

Take care. We think about you and your family all the time.

Lots of love.
